Just a reminder.  You have until the end of weeks 4 and 8 to hand in each task.  If you have any questions about the work, please PM and I will help you. You will have 2 tasks over the course of the year. Task 1 is required to be posted no later than the end of week 4 Term 1.  Task 2 is due no later than week 4 term 2.

Please do not concern yourselves with how many words you have written. I am looking more for the details, not long wordy explanations when fewer words can be used.

No Spell Check Quills can be used for this work.

Term 1 First 4 weeks

Task One

Option 1

Potions and making of potions are as old as time. What is exactly are potions? For this option, you need to explore all you can about potions. What you need to include are the basics of potions. What is needed to create them, what levels of potions are there and why. In other words, I would like for you to do an in depth look at all you can tell me about potions.

Option 2

Potions would not be around if someone has not experimented with creating any potions. We have many great people who created these potions that we use day in and day out. I would like for you to look up 4-5 Potioneers that have invented potions that we use often. Research as much information as you can about each one. I expect to see more than a sentence or so on each one.

Remember this is OWL work and I expect more effort in your lesson to show you have spent more than 10 minutes on your work.

Term 2 Second 4 weeks

Task 2

Option 1

To follow up on the option from weeks 1-4, we need to explore potions further. As you know, potions require a combination of precise ingredients and order of steps to brew it. Over the years, Potioneers have made their potions after what was likely weeks or months of trial and error. For this lesson, I would like you to tell me about the division of potions into the 3 categories , basically easy, moderate and difficult levels. You need to choose 3 potions from each category and research them. I know, you may have done something like this as a younger student, but I would like you do look into them a bit further. In addition to noting each of the 3 per level, you need to tell me as much as you can about each potion. What it does, who invented it, uses, why it belongs to each of the categories you placed them in.

Option 2

If you have researched Potioneers, have researched Potioneers, you are going to examine 1 potion they are known for.

Look at the directions for 1 Potion from each person and decide if there is any way you could make it better. Could a new ingredient be added, or one removed. What about changing the ingredients or amounts used. In other words, what do you think could be changed in each potion. Explain to me what you would change and why. How you think it could improve the potion.
