Option 3 will be a practical, taking place in Term 2 so please send me a message before the end of Term 1 if you want to participate!

Option 1

Hello everyone and welcome back to Potions class! I am so happy to see that you have decided to come back for another year. Since you are in your third year, I trust that this means you are going to take the OWL course and quite possibly the NEWT course? Anyway, enough about that, let us move onto today's lesson, which is about the Confusing Concoction. This potion is also known as the Confusing Draught, and as the name implies, it causes confusion if you drink it. The only known ingredients to us are scurvy grass, lovage, and sneezewort. These plants are very effective when it comes to inflaming the brain, hence why they are used in this potion. Now, as you may have already noticed, there are no brewing instructions. However, this will not stop us from attempting to brew it today for your homework assignment. One thing I will inform you of is to keep in mind that all potions need something to complete the brewing. A spell that could be potentially used is the Confundus Charm. So let us start the assignment! As always, I expect at least 200-300 words.

Homework

  1. Would you add any more ingredients? If so, what and why? If not, why?

  2. I want you to try brewing this potion and leave a phial on my desk when you've finished.

Option 2

Hello everyone and welcome back to Potions class! Today we are going to learn about the Shrinking Solution, also known as the Shrinking Potion. It is a bright green potion, quite similar to acid in color, that can cause things to shrink, including yourself! A well-known usage of this potion is when transporting livestock. Imagine being able to carry an entire herd of sheep or cows in your pocket! This potion was also created by Zygmunt Budge in the 1500s. The known ingredients for this potion are minced daisy roots, peeled shrivelfig, sliced caterpillars, one rat spleen, a dash of leech juice, a splash of cowbane, and wormwood. I am sure that you already know by now that you will get to brew this potion for your homework assignment and even get to test it. But first, I need to give you a word of warning… If you brew this potion incorrectly, it can be quite poisonous. So please be extremely careful! I would dread having to send any of you to the Hospital Wing! Now let us move onto the assignment! Like always, I expect at least 200-300 words.

Homework

  1. Please brew this potion using your own words.

  2. After you have brewed your potion, please test it out on one of these fruits. Please tell me the result and if you made the potion incorrectly, tell me what you think went wrong.

Option 3

Hello everyone and welcome back to Potions class! Gather up your supplies and follow me, because today we will be going to the Magical Healing Classroom! We will be joining Professor Rae and her third-year Magical Healing students in a joint practical. So if you signed up, you will receive a private message to remind you.
